BCPR News Update

Blue Click PR's Managing Director, Rhona Jack will appear on BBC TV's 'Local Heroes' programme scheduled for 4pm on Sunday March 21st 2004. The regional winner was Frank Whittle, inventor of the jet engine over 50 years ago. Rhona was asked to give her opinion as a Public Relations Consultant on how you would develop a campaign for this brilliant innovator, who did not always see eye to eye with the Royal Air Force. Below are some of the highlights from PR campaigns for our clients:

Jan 2004 - BBC Breakfast TV Live coverage of Retro Games @ Swindon's Museum of Computing

The press release announcing the launch of the new Retro Computer Games exhibition for our client The Museum of Computing, was despatched to about 280 magazines, national and regional newspapers as well as broadcast media. Blue Click PR has put about 7 stories up to BBC Breakfast TV before and this is the first story they have covered. The producer rang on Monday at 2pm requesting building access at 6am the next day to do two live slots on BBC Breakfast TV at 7.40am and 8.40am. Max Foster was the presenter and each news items was different. In total the exhibition was on air for 6 minutes on national TV, it ran as far as BBC news headlines throughout the day until late evening (lesser stories are sometimes replaced halfway through the day).

HTV had already booked filming during the day, but as a result of the Breakfast TV news, Central TV and BBC Points West rang and sent crews on the day. BBC Radio Swindon did a live broadcast. For a table of print media coverage click here

Jan 2003 - Recruitment agency live BBC radio broadcast from Ramada Plaza Hotel, New York

The Managing Director of this recruitment agency invests in her own people and motivates her sales team with prizes such as trips on Concorde, lunch at the Eiffel Tower and Whale-watching in Iceland. The latest reward was a long weekend in New York for her two teams of staff and their partners, 42 people in all. Such a story stirred media interest and we arranged for BBC Radio Swindon to do a live interview with the MD and her team from the lobby of their hotel in New York. From the animated voices it was easy to tell they were having a wonderful time!
