United Kingdom, 12th July 2001. At Cisco Systems Learning Partner Summit in Lisbon, Portugal, on Friday 29th June, Cisco Systems Ltd awarded the coveted title of Training Partner of the Year 2001 (Europe Middle East & Africa) to Horizon Technical Services Denmark, which reports in to Horizon Technical Services Worldwide Director, Peter Olive. Horizon Technical Services is a Cisco Learning Solutions Partners and is part of Irish-based Horizon Technology Group Plc, one of the leading Internet services companies in Europe.
This is only the second year these awards have been held and sixty training companies from Europe, Middle East and Africa entered the awards. Juergen Ruthotto-Doubek, Cisco’s Training Partner and Business Development Manager for EMEA, commented,
“It’s not just about revenue, its about being innovative and up to the mark. Meaning, it’s one thing to identify a new market, but quite another to go in there and capitalise on it. Rene and his team have shown exactly these skills and were leading the Nordic market, that’s why it was a natural choice to name Horizon Technical Services Denmark “Best Training Partner of The Year 2001.”
René G. Sørensen (Horizon Technical Services Managing Director – Nordic) commented, “We are a small company and are delighted Cisco chose us because of our focus and investment in a limited market. This award is for the staff of Horizon Technical Services Denmark because the real value of our business is in our people”.
Rene goes on to say ”Our main objective is to deliver high-quality services to the IT industry. For example, last year we developed a remote training lab allowing many people worldwide to train at the same time, and we developed an online assessment tool for Cisco certification. Finally, in conjunction with the Danish Trade Unions, we developed a new programme that gives unemployed people access to E-Learning for CCNP, which greatly enhances their career prospects”.
The main target for Horizon Technical Services A/S, Denmark, is to fill the demand for high quality education within the data communication market. It is the largest Cisco Training Partner in Denmark comprising a young team of twelve. There are eight highly qualified,
Cisco Certified Systems instructors (CCSI); of half of these are also Cisco Certified Internetworking Experts (CCIE). Training takes place across Denmark and Sweden. The ability to teach their technical specialisations in English is a pre-requisite and most instructors speak three other languages.
