Maidenhead, UK, 8th June 2001. Horizon MTS, a Cisco Learning Solutions Partner, is proud to present the world’s first Cisco Certified Cable Specialist Instructor. As part of the organisation’s strategy of continuous investment in people, instructor Steve Scantlebury completed the Cisco cable tests with flying colours. In addition, Horizon MTS recently invested in the only cable training lab in EMEA (Europe Middle East & Africa), confirming its place at the forefront of training for cable technology.
Kevin Calkins is the Cisco Cable Business Unit Education Manager, CCSI, CCNP, Cisco Cable Communications Specialist. He commented, "Cisco is leading the cable industry towards the convergence of the traditional RF and data worlds. We are pleased to be partnering with Horizon MTS who have proactively pursued their certification goals to become the first fully qualified Cisco Learning Partner in Cable technologies. With this achievement, Horizon MTS should be proud to say that they understand the hurdles facing the cable industry and can support our customers as they integrate data technologies into their cable networks."
The Cisco Cable Specialist designation focuses on the knowledge and skills necessary to support and deploy Cisco cable two-way data services. Cable companies are uniquely positioned to take a leadership role in delivering converged and sophisticated communication services over a single unified network. As a result, cable network professionals will need an increasingly diverse mix of skills to keep pace. As cable technology is deployed across the world, the challenge is to find and train qualified networking professionals capable of effectively designing, deploying and supporting information systems.
Cisco certification is never easy, but that’s what makes it so worthwhile. Steve Scantlebury, a Certified Cisco Systems Instructor (CCSI), holds a variety of Cisco certifications including Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), and CCNP Security. Steve felt this particular test was different from other Cisco Certification tests in that the breadth and scope of the test touched on various important cable issues worldwide. Steve notes, “The subject is so new, Cisco is aggressively preparing individuals for working with different operators and different cable standards around the world. To pass this test, you have to be more open in your thinking and prove you really have an in-depth knowledge of cable operating standards worldwide.”
Steve Scantlebury recently ran a training course for a Cisco client in Portugal. Sandra Freitas, Account Manager, Cisco Portugal comments “I would like to congratulate you for the ICCR training Course from last week. Our customer has given us an excellent feedback on the quality of the course and I’m sure that this has contributed positively to the relationship between Cisco and my customer.” Horizon MTS are gearing up to present the full range of Cisco Cable training courses as soon as the curricula are available. The Introduction to Cisco Cable Routers (ICCR DOCSIS) is next scheduled for delivery at Horizon’s new state-of-the-art training centre in Maidenhead on 9th July for 3 days, the price is £2,000
This course is targeted at Cable companies and personnel dealing with high-speed data over cable networks such as CATV operators (headend), network engineers, field deployment personnel, CATV management and ISP personnel selling these solutions. -ends-
