Manchester, UK, 19th December 2001 – Infonet Solutions is proud to announce the completion of phase 1of the RSPCA’s new website, launched today. www.rspca.org.uk uses Open Market software and is part of the advanced communications infrastructure being supplied to the RSPCA by Cable & Wireless. The state of the art website will enable the RSPCA to expand and manage membership through secure online applications. The solution is entirely scaleable. The RSPCA aims to increase from 100,000 to half a million hits per month by the year 2003 and the archit-ecture of the design will accommodate plug-in modules that add functionality at later stages. This foundation is deliberately flexible enough to support further developments over the next decade.
The range of client needs and the scope of the project were far-reaching. As the RSPCA's preferred communications supplier, Cable & Wireless became the prime contractor with several partners, and recommended Infonet Solutions to the RSPCA in early 2000. Infonet Solutions conducted a two-day workshop for seven RSPCA directors and senior managers illustrating how Internet technology would benefit the whole organisation and helping them consolidate and prioritise their projects.
Nick Powell, Senior Account Manager for Cable and Wireless comments; 'This is a long-term project with very specific objectives. We have been impressed by the way Infonet Solutions helped develop the overall brief and deliver fully integrated business solutions. We look forward to working closely with Infonet to deliver a world-class communications infrastructure for the RSPCA’.
Banishing the RSPCA’s Data Islands – The Intelligent Management of Enquiries
An enquiry management module has been built by Infonet Solutions, which manages every single enquiry made via the website. In the future, the website will become fully integrated with the RSPCA’s existing contact management system, making enquiry management easier. Each enquiry will be logged and all contacts from the same person will be held in one place rather than being isolated in different departmental data islands. In the current version of the website, responses to the enquiry are posted to the website and the person receives an email with a URL directing them to a specific location on the website where their answer can be found. Over time, these enquiries build the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) database and eventually there will be fewer truly ‘new’ enquiries. Hence staff will be able to devote much more time directly to solving animal cruelty issues, rather than repetitive administration.
By transferring to a browser-based web update system with built-in workflow and approval systems, the RSPCA can update their own content on over 95% of the new site.
The RSPCA are delighted with their new website and with the levels of professionalism displayed by their partner supplier, "Infonet Solutions is playing a vital role in assisting the RSPCA in the development of its e-business strategy and infrastructure, both at the strategic level and micro level of actual website development. We have felt able to place a lot of trust in them and consequently to build a strong working relationship with them. As a key service provider, seamless integration with us is essential. They have taken great effort to understand their customer to be able to perform this role with professionalism, integrity and great competence." said Wendy Thorley, Head of Information Services, RSPCA.
