• 21 staff will Celebrate success with trip to New York
13th September 2002 – Bristol, UK. Mainline Employment Ltd, the Bristol-based commercial, industrial and driving employment agency, celebrates its 12th year of trading with a trip to New York as an incentive for sales staff. Mainline Employment Ltd. operates a shift system, which gives clients and temps a 24/7, 365 days a year service – something that was unheard of in the industry 12 years ago!
Providing a 24hr service on a shift rota can be inconvenient, therefore, Director Stella Godwin plans to say thank you to partners by taking them on the all-expenses trip to New York as well. The long weekend will cost over £50,000 but Stella views it as a real investment in her team, because it creates a buzz and helps everyone focus on achieving their targets. The company will increase from £5m to over £7 million turnover this year.
Although the Bristol office team are having a small local celebration to mark the twelfth anniversary, they are saving their real celebrations for New York when they plan to party in style.
The 13-strong Sales & Admin team in the Bristol office are an unusually dedicated and loyal bunch. Many staff have been with the company from the start and they range in age from 20 to 65. The longest-serving salesperson has been at Mainline Employment Ltd. for seven years, whereas the norm for the industry is just 2 years before moving on or burning out.
Stella believes that if she treats her staff well and they are happy, this rubs off and they treat customers well too. The bottom line results indicate there is more than a grain of truth in this common-sense philosophy. She says ‘I think our clients really appreciate the continuity and stability we offer compared to other agencies.’
According to Stella, ‘My team all know the business really well and work hard to support each other when the pressure is on. Early on, I recognised I couldn’t build the business on my own, so I’ve worked hard to make people feel special. I’m really proud of them because we’ve come an awful long way together in the last 12 years!’
Bristol clients include Coca Cola, Securicor, Hays Crates (formerly BOC Distribution), Bristol City Council and BaE SEMA Systems, MOD Division in Filton, Target Express, Wincanton, Alexandra Workwear, Mail Marketing Group and many others.
